Following up from Mark’s comments in Creative Struggling » Book buying…

I remember seeing only one of those Wizard “How To”s a while back, how to draw graveyards by
Mike Mignola. Where they all by artists of that caliber?

Damn, that’s missing from this book!

What’s good about the wizard stuff is they decided what each artist is *really* kickass at and they got them to do that, so, for example, Adam Hughes draws Sultry women, Art Adams does texture, Kevin Maguire does facials (err…) so about 50% fantastic artists, but I’m a pencil slut anyways – I really love seeing pencil artwork regardless of how good or bad the person is, so there are a lot of people that have contributed stuff who I’ve never heard of but, presumably, they’re big in Wizard cus they draw the current ‘hot’ spandex book. I’m not sure how much of it is useful as either a how to or instruction book, but it’s a pretty cool book none the less.

(Yes, not sure why I had multiple posts – which I’ve since deleted 🙂

  1. I’ve got scans of this article clogging up my hard drive.
E-mail me at m dot cardwell at talk21 dot com, and I’ll send them
to you. It’s a fun four pages, he touches upon the stonework and
statuary that have become his trademarks.
