As you may or may not know – oh faithful reader – the Bristol comic festival disappeared in a spiral of Hitchcockian twists and turns. The comic expo seems to be picking up the pieces. I’ve booked my flight (an astonishing £22.49 return – which means my parking for the weekend will probably cost me more). I’ll be there from Friday to Sun (just gotta book a room).
Anyhue, that’s the news.
er… been working… not, unfortunately on comics.
I did have a minor revelation – one which, should’ve been obvious to me and is no doubt obvious to everyone, but it’s this: doing comics and computers affects both negatively – I should really be doing one or the other. Unfortunately, it’s too late for me to give up the computers – but knowing this little nugget may make some decisions easier.
re: previous post – I found this post in my draft list and forget I’d already posted it awhile ago. Oh well.
I have now (in fact I’ve always) had a bee in my bonnet about statistics. Here’s an example, this report says that 98% of participants of full body scanning gave positive feedback. Here’s what’s missing (and this is just from a cursory glance of the article):
98% of participants, NOT 98% of those people who were asked to take part. Possibly 99% of those asked said no – for a variety of reasons, including not feeling they wanted the invasion of their privacy.
I fecking hate this collusion of the press with government – a collusion that comes about more through lazy reporting than any actual conspiracy. A free press should question stuff like this not just run with whatever figures have been put on a press release.
Starting to get back to normal, hope to have mother and baby home tomorrow.
Not terribly flattering photo of me, but good photo of Nathan in what I like to call his ‘Tim Burton’ outfit.
Okay, counting from the start of this week I managed to get uhm… four pages completed. Nanas and Custard (finished about 4:00 on Friday). And three pages of the Meg strip (although I’ve been working on them over a week). Anyhue, I’m gonna attempt to post a ‘Completed Page’ post up here everytime I finish a page – that way you can all laugh along at home about how unproductive I am.
